The V5.2 release of HarnWare includes 3D modelling and form-board design

Tyco Electronics announces the release of HarnWare V5.2 harness design software featuring 3D modelling and other major new developments. HarnWare helps design harnesses, select the best materials and components, generates parts lists, labour estimates and 2D or 3D to-scale models. Components are selected from a database containing over 100,000 parts. HarnWare is specifically intended for high performance aerospace, defence and motor sport wiring harnesses. Capable of delivering 80% savings on conventional electrical harness design time, HarnWare is designed for interactive use by designers, application engineers and production engineers to simplify the evaluation and preparation of optimised harness designs.

The new release includes additional design tools, software enhancements and database additions. 3D models can be automatically generated and viewed from any angle to provide "virtual prototypes" of harnesses so the user can see what a harness will look like with lengths, diameters and parts shown to-scale. Also by simply clicking on a part, the user can access such data as part numbers, materials, finishes, adhesives, etc. These "virtual prototypes" reduce the potential for errors and enable automatic form-board design. The actual size form-board drawings mirror the complete harness topology, giving fixing positions, illustrating component location and routing the harness legs.

Other new benefits include a greatly improved wiring schematic tool, a harness weight estimator with a comprehensive database and facility for adding new weights, an extended help system with hyperlinks to product data sheets shipped with HarnWare or on the Tyco website, a user definable component database and multi-core cable selector.

The product database has also been enlarged; the connector database extended and enhanced, and many other improvements make HarnWare V5.2 an even better harness design CAD package.
